Finally, a brief moment to collect my thoughts and review the first few weeks of the tour.

Let's see: missing my flight to Minneapolis during the Northwest strike (went to LGA instead of EWR, hadn't slept in days), working with a new band and two new crew people, a so-so rental car, no one is sick yet, I guess things are generally OK.

We've done 9 shows now, and I'm not sure I have a favorite show. I haven't been looking at the tour in those terms, and I think I've been a little happier than usual because of it. There's been some like I thought they'd be (Minneapolis, 2nd night, a very emotional night for a lot of us old locals), and others were surprising (Columbus, hadn't been there in 8 years, didn't know what to expect, but everyone was feeling positive after the show).

I played cards in the Dakotas, and didn't do very well (probably down about $150, which isn't that much if you play CARDS). No speeding tickets yet, but Matt's hands are very beat up. We've had a few run-ins with housekeeping and front desk employees, but nothing has come to blows. We came close in Chicago, though.

(Word to the wise: if you're staying at Days Inn Lincoln Park for business, your faxes and FedEx packages are at great risk of being misplaced. And, don't expect incoming calls to show up in the proper room, no matter how often you correct them at the desk. Not a cheap place, either.)

Coffee, sushi, Fryn' Pan, Subway, food tinted colors not found in nature, bottled water, echinacea, disco/rap remixes at 4 AM radio trip, the horror that is Ohio Exit 167 on I-71 North (the weird verse in Skintrade Detroit, someday we'll show you the picture). NYC is pretty fucking safe compared to parts of Middle America. I feel like a camp counselor sometimes. Not my band.

I'm going to try and convince everyone to go to NYC tonight, and we all need to do laundry immediately. Good sleep is hard to get this month. 2 generic A.C. & C. tablets & I hope you like the pictures. More to follow.
